Dog Friendly Lake District Cottages near Keswick, Bassenthwaite, Cockermouth & Whinlatter Forest
We welcome all well behaved and house trained dogs. You may bump into our own labrador collies Maisie and Milo during your stay.
There is room for up to 2 dogs in each cottage at a charge of £20 per dog per stay.
Facilities that we provide for our guest dogs
- Flagged patio area (Fox Howe and Jasmine cottage patios are dog secure. Squirrel cottage patio is not completely dog secure but there is a ring attached to the wall to which dog leads can be tied)
- Wooden and tiled floors in the main living/kitchen areas of Fox Howe and Squirrel. By March 2019 Jasmine will also have wooden and tiled floors in these areas
- Dog treats and doggy bags
- Hosepipes available
- Bowl of water for your dog at cottage front door
- Food/water bowl mat for inside
- Information on local dog friendly pubs and cafes
- Information on local vet and pet shop
- Information on local dog walks
Unfortunately we don’t provide a grassy garden space for your dogs in any of our cottages but there are lots of lovely paths walkable from the door from where dogs can be safely let off the lead.
Dog equipment that we can provide
If you forget to bring any of your dog equipment or simply don’t have room in the car –don’t worry, just ask us when you are here and we can lend you any of the following items at no extra charge
- Stainless steel dog feeding bowls
- Fleecy dog blankets
- Dog towels
- Old plastic washing up bowls for use if you want to wash your dog
- Dog collar tags for your stay (etched with Croftlands Cottages details)
- Spare dog lead
- Torch for dog walking
- Emergency dog food
- Tick removal device
- An indoor collapsible dog crate (H=70cm W=64cm L=92cm). Please request when booking (we have two of these).
